Discuss with your therapist what you would like to achieve, and the treatment will be tailored to your needs. Depending on your comfort, the pressure may be strong in order to unwind deeper layers of muscles or, in some cases, the mind and body may have an easier time relaxing with a lighter touch. For chronic issues, multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve results.

Bodywork approaches that may be integrated into
your treatment:
Swedish Massage~
A classic massage composed of traditional techniques such as effleurage (stroking), pettrisage (kneading), tapotement (striking), or friction (rubbing) on the soft tissues of the body (muscles, ligaments, & tendons). This type of massage increases the circulation of blood and lymph, improves muscle and skin tone, relaxes the muscles, lowers blood pressure, and releases endorphins.
Deep tissue Massage~
A slower, more focused type of massage that works deeper into the soft tissue, releasing adhesions and restoring circulation to soft tissues. It helps to reduce deeply-rooted patterns of tension in the body.
Neuromuscular Therapy~
An advanced form bodywork that specializes in the treatment of chronic muscular and myofascial pain & pain syndromes. It combines various techniques such as static pressure, cross-fiber friction, pincer grasping (picking up & sifting through the muscles), and deep tissue massage to address trigger points in the soft tissue. Trigger points are palpable nodules in the muscle fibers. These points are known to cause irritable pain in the muscles and fascia not only locally, but they often refer pain into other areas of the body.
Aromatherapy~
An ancient form of therapy with roots in India, Egypt, and China. Aromatic and medicinal plants are put through a distillation process, creating pure essential oils. These oils can be used topically to treat pain and inflammation and/or used aromatically to enhance mood or to calm the nervous system.
Craniosacral Therapy~
A subtle and unbelievably relaxing form of bodywork that focuses on the bones of the cranium, the sacrum, and the cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid that bathes the brain and spine). Often during a treatment the recipient will enter a half awake/half asleep state as the practitioner applies therapeutic holds. This is truly a healing therapy, and also especially useful for those suffering from disease or chronic conditions.
Energy Work~
Like energy traveling through electrical wires, energy also travels through the body. Sometimes it becomes stagnant or imbalanced. The type of energy work offered is a hand-on approach that focuses on energy within muscle and fascia.
Sports Massage~
Massage therapy treatments that address athletic injuries, muscular imbalances, or repetitive use symptoms. Pre and post event massages are also offered.
